IT Specialist (Bilingual)
Kauffman Engineering, LLC., with locations throughout Mexico and the USA, has an immediate on-site opportunity for a bilingual (English and Spanish) IT Specialist role in our Reynosa location.

Job Summary:
The IT Specialist designs, implements, and supports the plant’s IT infrastructure, systems, and operational technologies (OT). This role owns site-level reliability and performance for core services (network, compute, endpoints, identity, and plant-floor connectivity), ensuring stable, secure, and scalable technology that supports manufacturing, warehouse, quality, and business operations.
The IT Specialist partners with the IT Director, corporate IT teams, and vendors to execute site initiatives, resolve complex technical issues, and drive continuous improvement through standards, documentation, and disciplined change management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Infrastructure & Engineering Systems
- Design, deploy, and maintain site IT infrastructure including servers/virtualization, networks, endpoints, printers, and manufacturing-related systems.
- Engineer and support LAN/WAN, Wi‑Fi, VLANs, firewalls, and network segmentation in alignment with corporate architecture and plant-floor/OT requirements.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle refreshes (e.g., OS upgrades, domain changes, hardware renewals) with testing, rollback plans, and minimal production impact.
- Ensure system availability, performance, and resilience for plant operations through monitoring, capacity planning, backup validation, and disaster recovery readiness.
Advanced Technical Support
- Serve as the escalation point for complex incidents beyond IT Technician scope; coordinate response, communication, and restoration of service.
- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring issues, implement permanent fixes, and document known errors and preventative controls.
- Support plant-floor and business applications (ERP, label printing, scanners, production/quality systems) and the underlying infrastructure they depend on.
- Coordinate advanced troubleshooting with corporate IT and external vendors; own issue resolution through closure and post-incident follow-up.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement and support cybersecurity controls aligned with corporate policy (endpoint protection, identity and access management, MFA, hardening, and patching).
- Support audits and compliance initiatives by providing evidence, remediating findings, and maintaining required technical controls and documentation.
- Identify, monitor, and remediate security risks across devices, users, and local infrastructure, including vulnerability remediation and coordination of OT/IT segmentation requirements.
Project Execution & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or co-lead local IT projects (network upgrades, system rollouts, automation initiatives, and site expansions) from requirements through implementation and stabilization.
- Create and maintain system architecture diagrams, configurations, asset records, and technical runbooks/standard operating procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, performance, and user experience using data/metrics, engineering analysis, and standardization.
Collaboration & Governance
- Work closely with the IT Director on planning, prioritization, budgeting inputs, and technical decision-making for the site.
- Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and mentoring to IT Technicians; promote standard builds and consistent support practices.
- Align local implementations with corporate IT architecture, standards, security policies, and change management/governance processes.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Bilingual communication skills (Spanish and English) as required for the site environment.
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- Windows enterprise environments (clients and servers)
- Networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, Wi‑Fi, VLANs, firewalls)
- Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Azure AD, and access management fundamentals
- Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with:
- Network platforms (e.g., Cisco, Meraki)
- Endpoint management (Intune/SCCM, imaging, patching)
- ERP or plant-floor systems and integrations (e.g., VAI, label printing)
- Virtualization, backups, and monitoring tools (as applicable to the environment)
- Basic scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, similar).
- Experience supporting audits and regulated environments.
