Love at first lunch: An SSOE love story. Mickey joined SSOE in November 2018, thanks to a nudge from his roommate, an SSOE talent acquisition specialist. On his first day, Chelsea—who had been with SSOE since 2015—welcomed him with a playful “what, you don’t eat lunch?” when he needed an extra push to come out of his new-guy shell. That moment sparked a friendship that turned into what is arguably one of SSOE’s cutest love matches, with Chelsea and Mickey married seven Novembers later. At SSOE, we promise to deliver unparalleled client value that advances the AEC industry. We commit to job seekers a career with an impact, designed by you. And sometimes, just sometimes, you might even fall in love. #ValentinesDay #chooseSSOE

Launching community leadership: The University of Toledo recently invited SSOE’s Vince DiPofi, CEO and proud alum, to speak for the school’s Jerome Advanced Leadership Academy—or as the Rockets call it, the “ALA.” The College of Business and Innovation launched this competitive program in 2005, and today it has expanded to become a high-profile interdisciplinary and leadership development program with more than 1,300 graduate student participants. Vince, named Distinguished Alumnus by The University of Toledo College of Engineering in 2019, has long championed long-term partnerships between corporations and educational institutions to elevate communities. He enthusiastically highlighted SSOE’s enduring commitment to contributing time, talent, and financial support to the communities where we live and work. #SSOEcares
Heartfelt commitments. Yesterday, we celebrated National Wear Red Day with a fun parlay—a $5 donation from CEO Vince DiPofi to the American Heart Association for each employee who participated across our network of offices or remotely. Together, we raised $550 for this heart-focused nonprofit! Health is true wealth, which is why we offer employees a comprehensive range of mental, physical, and behavioral benefits, as well as in-office wellness events. The American Heart Association leads the fight against heart disease, the leading cause of death in America. As a heart disease survivor and the board chairman of the Northwest Ohio chapter, Vince passionately supports the organization’s lifesaving efforts. #SSOEcares #WearRedDay

This Black History Month, we honor the 2025 national theme, "African Americans and Labor." We also celebrate the resilience of African Americans in architecture and engineering who continue to make invaluable contributions to our industry, despite the barriers to entry and inequities in the STEM field. At our firm, our commitment to progress is a labor of love. We actively support and uplift African American professionals through mentorship, education, and community engagement. We recognize Black excellence by acknowledging and celebrating the countless contributions and achievements, including those made by employees right here at SSOE. Our dedication to fostering an inclusive and innovative industry is not a mandate but driven by our passion to design and build a better future. #BlackHistoryMonth #chooseSSOE

Last week, we sponsored and participated in the Semiconductor Professional Development Seminar, jointly hosted by the Oregon State University College of Engineering and SEMI. As a proud SEMI member since 2013 and a Top 2 Semiconductor Design Firm for the past 8 years (ENR), we sparked conversations with over 300 students about the future of the industry as the ones driving it forward. Nestled in the Silicon Forest, our Portland office serves as the primary location for our Advanced Technology operations. SSOE’s high-tech presence across the U.S. makes us a strong choice for students looking to work in the growing semiconductor industry. Paige Sedgwick, a talented process engineer who started at SSOE as a co-op, captivated the audience with "A Day in the Life of a Semiconductor Engineer," while Principal Clem Wood shared his extensive experience in semiconductor and tool install program management. #SSOEportland #chooseSSOE
Our Portland office wrapped up an incredible 2024 with a killer year-end bash! The murder mystery party was to die for—taking our team’s problem-solving to new heights. The photo booth transformed into a crime scene, and we collected 321 canned goods for a ticket to enter our high-stakes raffle. Prizes included gift cards, paddle boards, and even a 10th generation iPad. Adding to the excitement, local leadership commemorated the hard work of another record-breaking year and celebrated Catherine Myers as she embarked on her well-deserved retirement. Among her long list of impressive achievements, Cathy served as SSOE’s first woman President and Chair of our Board of Directors. She’s been a steadfast advocate for women within our firm and a positive changemaker across our industry. #SSOEportland #chooseSSOE
