At Kids Planet, apprenticeships support both career starters and experienced colleagues taking their next step 💛 As part of National Apprenticeship Week, our Training Academy Director, Gill Mason, shared how apprenticeships are helping us build a strong, sustainable future for early years education and care. Across our 271 settings in England and Wales, we now have more than 1,000 apprentices, with around 150 more ready to start - aged 16 to 57. What matters most is creating opportunities for everyone: ✨ clear career pathways ✨ inclusive, individual learning support ✨ confidence-building in core skills like maths through real nursery-life context When barriers are removed, people thrive - and so do the children they support every day! 🫶
A proud day at our Kids Planet Training Academy💛 We’ve just celebrated the graduation of our second cohort of learners from the National Professional Qualification in Early Years Leadership (NPQEYL), delivered in partnership with University College London (UCL). This year-long qualification has brought together nursery managers, area leaders and practitioners from across Kids Planet, who completed the programme alongside their roles. The final presentations were brilliant. Thoughtful, reflective and packed with ideas that will strengthen practice, culture and leadership across our nurseries. Throughout the programme, colleagues explored themes including: 💠building an effective nursery culture 💠strategic leadership 💠child development, curriculum and assessment 💠SEND, safeguarding and stakeholder partnerships 💠professional development As Gill Mason, our Training Academy Director, shared on the day: reflection and a commitment to excellence were at the heart of every piece of work, and it was inspiring to see our CARE values woven throughout. A huge congratulations to everyone who graduated, and a big thank you to our partners at UCL for supporting our colleagues to grow as leaders in early years education and care!

From feeling unsure about maths to leading a toddler room and representing colleagues across the region, Alana Hanley is on an incredible apprenticeship journey at Kids Planet Winnington 💛 Alana is completing her Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship through the Kids Planet Training Academy, learning on the job while building a career she truly loves. Along the way Alana has: 👏 Achieved her Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths – a huge personal milestone. 👏 Stepped up as toddler room leader, growing her confidence and leadership skills. 👏 Become both nursery and regional All Ideas Matter (AIM) representative, giving colleagues a voice and helping to shape positive change. Believing that the early years are the foundation for everything that follows, Alana is already planning her next step: progressing to Level 5 in Early Years Management and Leadership, with her sights set on becoming a manager! We’re cheering on our CEO, Clare Roberts OBE, as she takes on a 100km Trek to Petra, Jordan this November in support of the Girls Out Loud Foundation 👏 Across five days through Petra’s stunning desert trails and sandstone canyons, Clare will be fundraising for school programmes that build confidence, resilience and leadership in teenage girls. As a mum of three teenage girls, this is close to Clare’s heart. As a family-led organisation, it matters to us too. Girls Out Loud is on a mission to raise the aspirations of teenage girls, helping them build confidence, resilience and leadership. The amazing charity helps build confidence and leadership through practical tools and positive role models. From short confidence sessions to year-long mentoring, girls learn to find their voice, set goals, navigate online pressures and back themselves 🩷
