The first interview was with the hiring manager and they asked quick but thought-provoking questions about science and research. They wanted to understand how I think. The follow up interview was with various members of the team, the group director and HR. Everyone was fantastic and I got a great feeling about the group. However, the HR rep was extremely aggressive, condescending and disrespectful. It’s unfortunate that this one person alone was responsible for my declination since I was genuinely excited about the work. They called me ‘unprofessional’ and ‘disappointing’ because I wanted more than 24 hours to finalize an offer. I was seriously considering Novavax as it seemed like the people there would be a good group to work with but I refuse to be bullied into accepting a position while I was in the midst of weighing another option.
