I applied for the position in late June and had my first phone interview with the recruiter in mid July. The interview was general and brief and only lasted about 15 minutes. I was then immediately sent over an assessment to complete, where I had to watch two commercials and write a 2 page single space response answering several questions. I also had to create a PowerPoint presentation explaining my paper. I sent that back mid/late July. I didn't hear anything back until end of August, but when I did the recruiter said the team was impressed with my work and wanted to schedule an in-person interview. I interviewed the first week of September and it wasn't what I originally anticipated. There was a panel of 5 employees and towards the end of the interview 1 more came in late. It seemed disorganized and often people were asking the same questions over and over again. We did not talk much about my resume or the comprehensive assignment I completed for them. I ended up accepting a position elsewhere and mid September and NRG got back to me late September saying they were going a different direction.

The interview process was pretty lengthy and the communication wasn’t the best. I did the recruiter screening, then had an interview with the manager and director. After this, they send over an excel case assessment for you to do. Then, a final interview with the SVP and EVP. It took TWO WEEKS for them to reject me. During those 2 weeks I had to basically pull at teeth for updates, and I was left in the dark about my status, etc. The recruiter was nice but being left with silence for 2 weeks was unprofessional in my opinion. After a while I didn’t even want the job anymore because the communication told me everything I needed to know about internal dynamics.
