Recruiter contacted me over linkedin and scheduled an interview within a week. It was all telephonic due to the lockdown period. The interview panel consisted of two rounds and each round had two people. Usually one was actively asking questions and another was passive. First round went for 1 hour. They joined a bit late. First 15 mins was about typical "tell me about yourself" and then a few technical questions on performance, approach etc. And then there was a layout problem to be solved. All that they asked was approach. Not the working code. It went well. He said the recruiter will share the feedback on what went well and what didn't. Second round also went on for 20 mins where they introduced themselves and asked for my introduction. A couple of questions on technologies used and how comfortable I am with those frameworks etc. Only one of them was interactive all through and the other was not. He asked me to open redbus.in and develop the calendar that is visible there. I asked questions on, should the leap year be considered, alternative month days etc. After I coded for 20 mins he said to concentrate on the logic part. Till then I was coding different templates for days/row/week row etc. I was not even aware that there was time limit, they didn't tell me. I completed the logic part. The active interviewer was answering the questions and following the logic that I was writing. But as the one hour got over, the other interviewer who was silent till then pitched in and said execute the code because it is time up as they have other interviews to be taken. I hadn't even linked my .js files, .css file to html file. I am comfortable in local ide rather than repl. Obviously it didn't work. So he asked the active interviewer who was interacting, "ain't you leaving the call? I am leaving" I left the call immediately before even they left. It took 5 mins for me after the interview to make it work perfectly. Then on the next day, recruiter sent me a mail saying they are discontinuing the process with my profile. No elaborated feedback on to what went wrong. So, it was a kind of disappointment for me to spend so much effort and time to not recieve a proper feedback. To guys who have read this before your microsoft front end interview, one concentrate on completing the problem. Probably they are not looking for the code quality because no one can develop a calendar in 40 mins with good quality. And good luck!

Interview consisted of 4 rounds (3 technical + 1 culture), 1 hour each. Each technical round had same structure: - Interviewer introduces themselves - I introduce myself (experience) - Live coding - Q&A Recruiter & team managed to fit all 4 rounds into 2 days and I got a response next Monday, so it felt super quick All interviewers were friendly and pleasant to talk to. Generally, livecoding tasks are simple, allowing any language (except React task) and situational pseudo-code, I didn't record but it felt like 10-20 minutes each. Last 10 minutes were for Q&A mainly from my side, the rest is just talks about experience, position, projects, AI, tech etc.
