Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 2 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Microsoft (Redmond, WA) en ago 2025

      Entrevista

Three rounds all in one week. One with a xfunc stakeholder, second with HM, third with HM’s right hand stakeholder on the team. The Recruiter couldnt answer any questions about the role or team when asked and stated they didnt know and I should ask HM for almost all of them. As a result I went in nearly blind as to the needs of the role, the gap that was being filled, and the specifics of the team. Each interviewer I talked with had predetermined, structured questions, for two out of three rounds it was not a two way conversation in any way. All reserved a mere five or ten minutes at the end for me to ask questions. to my understanding this is an outdated norm. It was a very odd, one sided conversation. Each round of interviewer was also looking for what felt like a completely different type of answer, expertise, and candidate style. It was extremely disjointed and left me with whiplash + the impression that the interviewers were not aligned on the ideal candidate. Salary was pretty low for comparable roles in the industry, for what appears to me to be higher risk of job insecurity. Clear internal cultural obsession with AI and use of AI which is odd for me to experience thru the interview process given I’m in risk management. I leverage it obviously but this role is more about ensuring safeguards and contractual compliance. Last, there are clearly very siloed teams at this company. Whenever I asked about cross functional work or cross functional input, I received roundabout answers about what’s in the team’s remit and what isnt. Third round “technical” interviewer was borderline argumentative. The interviewer asked a question that was nonspecific. When I asked to clarify the question as it could have been tactical (about the project i was describing) or theoretical (about the practice of privacy), the interviewer smirked and said “so you dont know?” [the answer] That was very shocking and put me on defense. I was completely flabbergasted. I asked that interviewer how I did at the end, what about my answers I should clarify or elaborate on, or how I might alter my style of answers (because the interviewer seemed unsatisfied), and they expressed being taken aback by this question and stated that it “[wasn't] really something to ask in an interview”. I felt borderline profiled? Two days after my final round, they let me know they went a different direction. I was surprised at how relieved i was not to get it and immediately called to accept my in-hand offer at a different company.
