Entrevista para Sales Development Representative (SDR)

Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 2 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en MemoryBlue (Austin, TX) en dic 2020

      Entrevista

The interview process was pretty typical for an entry level SDR role. Speak with recruiter, 2 hour long interviews with 2 mid level managers (Jace/Tyler) back to back, role play (cold call) with Austin office manager Jackson. For the role play you are given like 4 pdfs of how to cold call & a specific client you’ll be targeting in your cold call. Recruiter calls you after each interview with their managers. I wanted to highlight something I wish I would’ve known before even interviewing with them. If offered a position, then you are expected to sign an employment contract for 15 months. If you leave between 30 days and 15 months then you will owe the company as much as $5000. This is aside from “getting hired out by your client.” They claimed to do this because in the past other companies “stole” their new hires after going through their “great training program.” Another issue I would like to point out is that if you have a good month and perform over your quota, then you will get a bonus.. let’s say $1k-2k, but if the next month you under perform then mB will take away that $1k-2k. So if you decide to interview with them, then definitely ask for clarification on these two topics. They wait to tell you this until the last interview with their manager, but if I would’ve known this earlier I wouldn’t have wasted my time going through the process because it’s just a weird ask from a company. Other things to know: base salary is a hard 37,500. I tried to negotiate, but they wouldn’t budge. I would suggest giving it a try if you choose to interview with them. Recruiter said they’re looking for someone who is coachable, open to feedback, and conversational. Jace was incredibly nice and easy to talk to. Tyler tried to make the interview fun, but it just made the interview a little awkward. Jackson was a brick wall with no emotion.

Why sales? Why mB? Why tech sales? Tell me about yourself. Basic questions nothing out of the ordinary

Phone screening, then recruiter call, then another call with recruiter to prep for a 2 hour in person interview. Then a final interview with a mock cold call. Overall waste of time and poor communication by both the recruiter and managers. Interviewers were also shifted twice which definitely threw me off. 5 interviews for a $50K> job where they promote their culture and working hard to not earn your commission until you stay for 1.5 years.

Spoke to two hiring managers that were respectful and professional. The whole process lasted two hours. I basically said the same thing in both interviews. It was a little long, but I understand why they set it up like that.
