Had first interview, was succesful and scheduled in for the on-sites, then informed the day before (after a lot of prep!) they had given the spot to an internal candidate.

The interview scheduling was long and had multiple cancellations throughout the process, causing a delay and misalignment in expectations. The interviewer was not prepared/informed on what questions to ask which was really disappointing, especially considering company like Google.
