      Entrevista

Phone Screening with Channels Specialist (40 minutes) gauging my suitability for the job. This was followed by phone interview with a senior program manager who operated in the same workspace that I would have been working in. The Channels Specialist was my main point of contact throughout the process.

      Entrevista

Be prepared for a loooooooong process. It took over 6 months to get an offer. My timeline was as follows: 8/13: My friend referred me into Google. 8/21: A recruiter contacted me via email. 8/27: 1st phone call with recruiter 9/6: 1st phone interview with UX Program Manager 9/24: 2nd phone interview with UX Program Manager Note: My recruiter gave me the option to do a 2nd call, and framed it so that the call would help me align with a team. Well, that wasn't true at all, as the 2nd call was identical to the 1st. I wish I had chosen to skip this call and gone straight to on-site. Doing that would probably have saved me at least a month. 10/2: My recruiter let me know there was a team match. A hiring manager from one of the Google teams was excited about my experience and resume. 11/5: On-site scheduled for Mountain View campus. There were supposed to be 4 interviews (3 with Program Managers and 1 with the hiring manager) + informal lunch. However, one interviewer canceled at the last minute so I ended up just doing 3 interviews. 11/27: Last "on-site" interview scheduled, but over the phone. This was delayed by a week due to Thanksgiving. Also, I'm pretty sure my recruiter waited to gather everyone else's feedback before scheduling the last interview. It wouldn't have made any sense to schedule the last interview if all previous on-site feedback was bad. 12/11: My recruiter let me know that my final interviewer submitted his feedback. This meant she was now able to review my packet. After reviewing all the feedback, she said she was ready to move forward to Hiring Committee. Problem was that it was almost Christmas. My recruiter told me I wouldn't hear back until after the holidays. 1/8 The recruiter called to let me know I passed the Hiring Committee!! Whoohoo!! Except there was one minor thing. They didn't know what level to bring me in at so I had the option to do one more interview. Best case scenario I get in at a higher level with a higher salary. Worst case I get hired in at the lower level. So I opt to interview again. Duh. 1/15: FINAL interview! 1/31: My recruiter called me to let me know I passed for the higher level!! YAY!! But there was a new problem...now that we were in Q1, this meant new head count. Soooo the last team I matched with back in Q3 lost their head count, which meant I had to do team matching AGAIN. 2/7: My recruiter found a team match! 2/14: I did my first team match phone screening with the team's UX Program Manager. The call went well. 2/21: I spoke with the team's hiring manager. We got along well too. It was a match! 2/22: My recruiter called me to go over my offer from the compensation team. They had been working on this for 2-3 weeks since I passed the higher level. 2/26: I received an offer to review and sign. Start date was whatever I wanted it to be.

They were completely transparent with me throughout the entire process and there were no surprises. They provided support until the very end and wanted me to succeed. Most challenging interview process ever.
