Me postulé a través de una recomendación de un empleado. El proceso tomó 3 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Genentech en jun 2023
Entrevista
Video calls with a recruiter, hiring manager, and several other stakeholders. Typical interview process - but surprised by the pay and questions raised that seems to be contrary to standard pharma practices as it relates to compliance.
The process is pretty much stock standard - but the interactions with the recruiter drove me away. The individual (who is experienced) did not know the common vernacular of the industry and presented questions in such a way that showed a lack of appreciation or understanding. Plus, do you really need to rehash questions already noted in the ATS?
Definitely felt like this individual was looking for someone to fit a specific mould or form, which is fine.

Q1: Have you used AI or any other tools to process field notes to understand trends and opportunities?
A1: The recruiter was not happy with my response when I mentioned that in my past experience, field notes are avoided due to discovery and compliance risk. This is different from pre-set drop down selections where AI is not applicable. Fine if Genentech is capturing field notes and wants to take that risk. But why would the recruiter be surprised if someone raises compliance implications?
Q2: I see you are a board member and president of a non-profit; how will that impact this position you are applying for?
A2: let me clarify - I am a part of a foundation donating my time and skills for free. You all should be proud to have a person who is giving back as a part of the team. Do you not think that there are many others at the company who are not part of community non profits or civic organizations?

Met at a professional conference. Very causal and informal. Asked about information about specific pipeline drugs: the present and future. Potential research studies and how to generate evidence to support value of the specific drugs.
