The interview process consisted of applying on the Campus portal (submitting resume) and applying on the ExxonMobil website. Very simple and very easy. (Make sure to submit a cover letter).
I got an email on Thursday September 10th, 2015 from our Career Services Office stating I had been accepted for an interview for the following Wednesday. I prepared interview questions based on the STAR method. This is important for an ExxonMobil interview.
The interview itself was very laid back and relaxing. It was two interviewers, one of whom was potentially being trained and the other was a long-time interviewer. I enjoyed the interview greatly and I assumed that I had atleast made it to the second round. Unfortunately that was not to be. This was the email I received a week later:
"Dear [Candidate],
Thank you for taking the time to interview with ExxonMobil during our recent campus visit. We have reviewed your background and interests relative to the needs of hiring organizations. Unfortunately, we do not have a suitable opportunity for you at this time. We appreciate your interest in ExxonMobil and the opportunity you have given us to consider you for employment.
Sincerely,
ExxonMobil Recruiting"
This is important for the ExxonMobil Interview:
They know you are smart and can do the job. They want to see if you can fit in the culture. You could have the most fun interview in the world but if you don't match their corporate culture, they will not hire you. Everyone who gets the interview has done Co-ops, research, internships, managed big organizations, maintained very high GPAs, and more. Its all about PERSONALITY. I have interviewed three times and managed to fail on the first stage all three times in succession (2013, 2014, and 2015).
