Our September For Service initiative roundup! athenistas came together across the globe to serve and support communities with heart and hands last month. Here’s a look at some of the inspiring ways athenistas made a difference during our September for Service initiative: ⭐ Cathedral Square: athenistas from athenaGives and athenaVeterans joined forces to deconstruct and rebuild four beds for senior housing residents. One new resident shared that having space to continue gardening has made her transition easier, while another enjoys growing Big Red tomatoes for the center’s annual BLT party. ⭐ Crossroads Community Services: athenistas in Dallas came together to restock shelves and sort items for Crossroads' Community Services' Community Market, which allows food-insecure neighbors to choose the food they want. ⭐ Pune Nutri Kits Distribution: Our team partnered with the India Food Banking Network to distribute Nutri Kits to school children from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping improve nutrition to support their educational success. ⭐ Belfast Clean Birthing Kits: At a flagship event, 60 athenistas crafted 1,203 Clean Birthing Kits with MedShare—potentially saving 2,400 mothers and newborns by supporting maternal health in underserved communities worldwide.
