We are always looking to reduce the amount of energy it takes to manufacture our products and were honored to learn that our Montana team has been named Flathead Electric Cooperative’s first-ever Energy Partner of the Year. In addition to completing the Energy Smart Industrial Strategic Energy Management program through the Co-op and the Bonneville Power Administration, our teams in Columbia Falls and Kalispell implemented energy-saving ideas from employees that led to 47 completed projects. Thank you to Flathead Electric, and congratulations to our Montana operations for leading the way in sustainability and energy efficiency! #TheWeyerhaeuserWay
In his role as forest carbon director, Jason Gibson is always looking for ways to improve the monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) of our forest carbon projects. Advancing MRV is of increasing interest to forestry and natural resource management professionals across industry, academia and nonprofits to help scale the climate impact of natural climate solutions. Jason discussed our approach and how existing and new technologies could be adapted to forest carbon projects to improve the entire MRV process during a recent online panel co-hosted by Michigan State’s Forest Carbon & Climate Program, Penn State’s FOCCE Program, and the Society of American Foresters. Watch the recording to learn how many different interests are coming together to encourage greater integrity, transparency and trust in forest carbon. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #NaturalClimateSolutions
To celebrate 125 years since our founding, we're taking a look back at the major moments and milestones that shaped our history. Over the coming months, we'll be publishing photos of the innovations, events and decisions that defined each decade. Our first installment, spanning 1900-1910, captures early shots of our forest operations, the devastating Yacolt Burn in southwest Washington — and our early leadership in forest fire prevention that followed — our first sawmill in Everett, Wash., and more. Join us as we relive the journey. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #WY125

125 years ago — January 18, 1900 — Frederick Weyerhaeuser Sr. and 15 associates established Weyerhaeuser Timber Company to purchase 900,000 acres of forestland from the Northern Pacific Railway. It was a bold venture that would reshape the industry through the groundbreaking concept of sustainably managing forests for continual use. Frederick’s founding vision stemmed from firsthand experience in the Midwest, where unchecked logging had depleted forests, ultimately forcing companies to shut down or relocate. He firmly believed his new company would break that pattern. “This is not for us, nor for our children, but for our grandchildren,” he said — words that still guide Weyerhaeuser today. As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, look for more stories throughout the year capturing our history and impact through the decades! hashtag#WY125 (Photos courtesy Forest History Society.)
Our team in Oregon was recently honored with the first-ever Strength in Partnership Award from Oregonians for Food & Shelter. The award recognizes the important role industry plays in the success of grassroots organizing and programming. Weyerhaeuser has a long history of collaborating with the nonprofit, which works to promote science-based policy, innovation and stewardship in agriculture and forestry. “It’s an honor to be recognized by an organization that advocates so tirelessly for Oregon’s foresters and farmers,” says Marc Cannon, a region manager for Western Timberlands. “Collaborating with Oregonians for Food and Shelter helps ensure we have access to tools and policies that support our industries and our rural communities.”
We recently announced plans to build a new state-of-the-art TimberStrand® facility in south Arkansas. The project will be Weyerhaeuser's first greenfield facility in more than 20 years and greatly expand our production capacity for engineered wood products in the U.S. South. We expect to begin construction next year with the goal of starting operations in 2027.
During #NationalForestProductsWeek, we celebrate the people behind our forest and mill operations who work hard every day to deliver the wood products that are essential to daily life. Clif Homan has been a machinist at our sawmill in Millport, Alabama, for 50 years and counting. But he's not ready to retire. Instead, he's passing his knowledge, work ethic and safety commitment to the next generation — and continuing to build on the skills he's learned along the way — to ensure we're able to provide high-quality, sustainable forest products for years to come. #TheWeyerhaeuserWay
Did you know that trees are about 25 percent carbon by weight? That’s why forests are one of the most effective tools we have for mitigating climate change right now. At Weyerhaeuser, our continuous cycle of growing, harvesting and replanting trees ensures billions of tons of carbon dioxide remain stored in our forests — and out of the atmosphere — both now and for decades to come. Learn more about how our forest landscapes store carbon! #NaturalClimateSolutions #TheWeyerhaeuserWay
As a home improvement warehouse sales service manager for our Distribution business, Amanda Brooks, MBA spends her days working with national retailers, supporting the team to coordinate special orders and program sales through our 19 distribution centers. But as soon as her tasks are complete, she spends any available moments hyping up her team members and colleagues, celebrating their accomplishments and guiding them toward ever-brighter futures. “Most people crave new challenges after a while, and I always want to make sure every member on my team feels prepared to take the next step in their careers,” Amanda says. “I’m there to say, ‘Yeah, you can do this! You have my full confidence. Let’s make sure you reach your goal.’” #TheWeyerhaeuserWay #meetourpeople
