Our teams may not always share desks… but they do send GIFs and know how to say “good morning” in a few languages. From hybrid to fully international setups, belonging at Solvay means feeling free to ping someone without overthinking it, valuing different ways of thinking and genuinely getting to know each other’s cultures. 🎥 Listen to our colleagues and find out how they keep the connection alive (yes, icebreakers and quirky anecdotes included). 👇 What’s your go-to tip for working across borders?
🌳 At our Linne Herten site in the Netherlands, the spirit of sustainability blossomed as Solvay colleagues, local schoolchildren, and retired employees joined forces for a vibrant Tiny Forest planting day. Thanks to the Travel Carbon Fund award, this inspiring initiative saw 150 schoolchildren and 40 dedicated Solvay employees, along with 17 retired colleagues, plant 3,500 native trees and scatter hundreds of wildflower seed bombs. Guided by the expertise of the IVN organization, this collective effort has transformed the site into a beautiful workspace nestled within nature for a unique and inspiring environment. Bas Koninkx, Logistics Supervisor, proudly stated, "At Solvay, we don't just talk about sustainability; we do sustainability." Join us in celebrating this event on Earth Day and let’s continue to build a greener future together! 💚

"Can we talk?" When was the last time you heard these words? Did they send you into a panic, or did you welcome them with the certainty of a productive conversation? At Solvay, we aim to cultivate a feedback culture that drives excellence and collaboration. Here’s our approach: ✅ Two-way dialogue: Everyone’s voice matters, and managers actively seek and welcome feedback. ✅ Growth-focused: It’s not about pointing fingers. We foster an environment where sharing thoughts is safe and encouraged. ✅ Beyond annual reviews: Feedback should be continuous! Regular check-ins, one-on-ones, and post-project reflections help us keep improving. Our Pulse survey gives us real-time insights that can be leveraged at team level. ✅ Clear and actionable: Feedback should always be effective, focusing on specific behaviors and outcomes. Let’s share! How do you use feedback to make progress? What are your best practices for productive feedback? 💬 Want to join a workplace where you can grow and contribute your ideas? At Solvay, we're making efforts to look after the nature around our sites. We're trying to do our part in protecting local wildlife and their habitats, contributing to biodiversity, in line with the Global Biodiversity Framework 🌿We're working to improve biodiversity at sites like Rosignano in Italy and Torrelavega in Spain. 🌺We're studying the local plants and animals and implementing nature-based solutions to protect local ecosystems. 🐈⬛Our Paulinia site in Brazil, where animals like capybaras, pumas and jaguars live, has been recognized for its conservation work. For this World Wildlife Day, we wanted to share some of these initiatives. We believe every little bit helps when it comes to preserving nature.💚
As we wrap up Engineering Week, we're thrilled to highlight Luisa Helena Nascimento, a dedicated Production Engineer with a passion for technical ingenuity and collaboration. Luisa's journey with us began in 2015 as a process engineering intern. Over the past decade, she has made significant contributions in both process and production engineering. Her proudest moment was when she worked on a project which automated the Nitric Acid Unit and centralized operations, enhancing safety and efficiency. If Luisa were a chemical element, she would be carbon, symbolizing her belief in the importance of forming strong, meaningful connections in both her professional and personal life.
