For Applications Engineer, Hunter Basteen, Samuel has been unlike any other employer he’s had. “I’ve tried to grow in every place I’ve ever worked,” he shares. “But at Samuel, the backing and support I’ve received have been so unique and valuable to me.” Since first joining the company in June 2021, Hunter has taken on four roles in just under four years – something he attributes to the guidance he’s received from his managers. “From the very beginning, they helped me create a development plan to move through different positions and meet appropriate benchmarks on my way to achieving my career goals,” he shares. They also took an active interest in his success – encouraging him to pursue new roles to expand his skills and providing constructive feedback he could use to further his growth. “I’ve always viewed my relationships with my managers at Samuel as more of a mentorship,” he adds. That’s why, when it comes to achieving his career goals, Hunter knows he’s in the right place: “At Samuel, I’ve been able to grow as quickly as I’ve been willing to learn,” he says. “They really do believe in my ability to do that.” Do you want to Grow with Samuel, too? Supporting our team and promoting from within are critical for our company’s success – something Bob Elyasi has experienced first-hand. After joining Samuel Pressure Vessel Group (SPVG) in 2020, Bob actively sought opportunities for career growth and took advantage of Samuel’s resources. Our professional development programs, including our Online Learning Club and the Manager Foundations Program, were “invaluable” in helping Bob develop leadership skills and grow his career. In September 2024, he was promoted to Business Development Manager for SPVG East. “Samuel provides a great environment for professional growth and development,” explains Bob. “The opportunities I’ve had to take on more responsibility, especially with overseeing larger territories and contributing to the company’s strategic goals, make me confident that I can continue to achieve my career objectives here.” Are you ready to grow with Samuel? At Samuel, we’re committed to continuous improvement because we know even small changes can have a really big impact. So, when our Automotive sales team managers received the results of our recent engagement survey, they decided to approach their action planning a little differently and we were excited to see the results. “We didn’t want to guess at solutions, or develop an action plan without buy-in from the team,” shares Colin Chisholm, Sales Manager – Automotive Canada. Instead, the managers joined forces, booking a full-day event for their teams to decide on concrete solutions and prioritize changes. Their commitment to open, two-way dialogue proved to be a huge success. “The positive feedback we received was overwhelming,” says Colin. “Everyone had an open mindset and was motivated to get real results.” Do you want to be part of a team where your voice really matters? We love to keep our team members safe and help them pursue their passions – so when our Joint Health and Safety Committee Co-Chair, Kevin Hoover, first expressed his desire to positively impact safety culture at Samuel – we jumped at the chance to help. “The company has been incredibly supportive in helping me pursue my education and opening doors to advance my career in Environmental Health and Safety,” shares Kevin, who first joined the Samuel team to work on the shop floor 25 years ago. With the support of his manager and plant coordinator, Kevin used our Tuition Reimbursement Program – which provides Samuel team members with up to $10,000 each year for relevant external coursework – to pursue a Certification in Occupational Health and Safety Management. He’s now enrolled in an Associate Degree program with the same focus – also backed by Samuel. For Kevin, this commitment to our team is what sets Samuel apart. “The company genuinely cares about its team members,” he shares. “They place a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and support – and there are plenty of opportunities for growth. It’s more than just a job. It’s a place where you’re valued and have a chance to succeed.” Want to learn more about the advantages of joining Team Samuel? Visit Samuel.com/careers

As we head into a new year, we’re excited to welcome our latest group of students to Samuel. Student roles are available across Canada and the US, on the shop floor and in our offices, and they’re specifically designed to offer growth and development opportunities like job shadowing and mentoring, as well as the chance to support real business projects and network with people across the company, including fellow students, other teams and our President & CEO, Colin Osborne. We hire students throughout the year and love to turn those positions into full-time roles, where possible.
