When a friend reached out about a role at Workrise six years ago, Mandi Brandenburg saw an opportunity to reconnect with the people and work that had shaped much of her life. “Coming from a long line of oilfield workers in West Texas, it’s no surprise that my journey eventually led me to Workrise. Growing up, I saw firsthand how vital it is for energy workers to be paid fairly, compensated quickly, and kept safe. Those principles weren’t just ideals, they were what put food on our table, bought our school supplies, and gave my family a chance to build a better future. My time at Workrise has brought me full circle. It has reconnected me to my roots and fuels my commitment to lead our Client Operations team with empathy and a deep understanding of the people we serve. I’m driven to ensure our clients and workers are fully supported so they can focus on what they do best.” Today, Mandi leads our Client Operations team with empathy and a deep respect for the workers and clients we serve. As we head into Pride Month, we’re proud to celebrate leaders like Mandi, who show up fully, reminding us what it means to honor who we are.
There are many different ways companies are approaching AI. At Workrise we’re using it to rethink how we build, scale, and serve the energy industry. We started with manual opportunities where we knew we could create value and then applied AI where it made the most sense. Today, we’re seeing tangible results as we continue to learn and adapt. In our latest article in Built in, Jordan East highlights how we’re Raising the Bar to work smarter, move faster and deliver better outcomes. Energy operators are feeling the pressure — and outdated procurement systems aren't helping. Our Workrise–NewtonX study shows that companies are being asked to cut supply chain costs by up to 60%, yet most are still managing source-to-pay with 8+ disconnected tools and hundreds of manual workflows. It's costing time, money, and visibility. The fix? Streamlining S2P from end to end. 🔗 Read more on how modernizing procurement can unlock major efficiencies: https://www.sdcexec.com/sourcing-procurement/procurement-software/article/22936803/workrise-sourcetopay-inefficiencies-put-pressure-on-energy-operators
Vince Giang didn’t take the traditional path into product management, and that’s exactly what makes his perspective so valuable. From mechanical engineering to operations to product, his story is a great reminder that curiosity and collaboration can take you far. “Workrise helped kickstart my journey into product management. After graduating with a mechanical engineering degree, I found myself working on interesting technical projects, yet I felt disconnected from the user. This led me to operational roles at startups where I worked more closely with product teams, implementing capabilities where I witnessed the direct impact on users. When I joined Workrise, these experiences converged, enabling my transition to product management. At Workrise, I directly contribute to our mission to transform the oil and gas industry. One of my proudest achievements has been leading our product expansion into Canada. Identifying the unique complexities of each region was a challenging yet rewarding experience. What made this project work was the direct collaboration with our Canadian teammates and living our value Solutions Over Egos. We bounced ideas off each other, comparing “how we do things in the US” with “how it works up north.” That back and forth was invaluable, and we would’ve missed crucial details had I done it alone. By combining our perspectives, we achieved something that works seamlessly for both markets. Opportunities like this makes Workrise a great place to be."

Meet Sam Ingram, Workforce HR Operations Lead, a true champion for both professional development and Workrise's mission. This month, we're delighted to share his story of growth and achievement. “Workrise has been instrumental in my professional growth and my sense of belonging. Over the past year, with the support of Workrise, I was able to earn my SHRM certification. For years, I'd worked in Human Resources, gaining valuable hands-on experience and developing a deep understanding of the workforce. While I was successful, I felt a formal certification would validate my skills and reveal areas where I could improve. The course was quite an investment, and during a self-review, there was a question asking, "How can we support you?" I took that opportunity to request help, and Workrise stepped up. They recognized the value of my professional development and fully supported me in completing the course and earning my SHRM certification. I'm incredibly grateful for their belief in me, and I'm already looking forward to pursuing the next certification to further enhance my contributions to the team.” As we celebrate Black History Month, we're reminded of the importance of empowering individuals to achieve their full potential. Sam Ingram, exemplifies this perfectly. His journey is a testament to our "Learn and Grow" value, and we're thrilled to support him as he continues to rise.

You might read this headline and think "Broken? That's a strong word." But when we talk to both operators and suppliers, we see a different picture. A picture where competitive bids are siloed in email inboxes, and often reserved only for big ticket items. Where suppliers have to jump through hoops to decode an RFQ, before jumping through more hoops to get onboarded and get to work. Where on both sides of the aisle, valuable mindshare is pulled into the minutia of gathering quotes or manually digging up historicals, and away from the things that matter. Bidding is the opening gambit in the source-to-pay lifecycle. An opportunity to start on the right foot, and an opportunity that is so often missed the way the industry works today. In his latest piece, Jacob Gritte — General Manager, Source-to-Pay Solutions — unpacks why this space is in need of an overhaul, and paints a picture of what we believe a lasting solution should look like (link in comments).
We’re thrilled to highlight Ryan King, a Software Engineering Placement Student here at Workrise. Ryan’s dedication, eagerness to learn, and contributions have made a significant impression on our Engineering team and allowed him to gain hands-on experience as he develops his skills. “While interning at Workrise, I had the opportunity to dive into exciting and impactful projects while being trusted to solve challenges independently. What also sets this internship apart is the strong support system that allows me to ask questions and collaborate with experienced professionals, helping me to grow as a software engineer.” Ryan's journey reflects the essence of what we aim to provide in our internship programs —real-world challenges, a talented support system, and a collaborative environment that pushes students to new heights. We’re thrilled to watch your future unfold, Ryan, and we know you'll continue to achieve incredible things!
