We're thrilled to celebrate a new milestone in the global maritime industry. The eWolf, our all-electric, zero-emissions ship assist tugboat has been christened in San Diego to begin service this week. With more power than her conventional predecessor, she will serve the needs of ship operators and help community reduce air pollution. Thank you to the many industry and government partners who made her a reality. See our news release here: https://hubs.la/Q02DjtB70
Honoring Pride Month and our theme, “We All Belong,” we are excited to highlight Shannon Sarkees, director of sustainability, whose near-decade-long journey at Crowley has been marked by her commitment to authenticity, inclusivity and mentorship. From finding belonging through our Stronger Together: LGBTQ+ Alliance BRG to leading with a commitment to sustainability, her story is about the progress we’ve made and the work ahead.
Deborah Blackwell and Ned LaGoy, both from our logistics business development team, recently represented our continued support of the Home Depot Foundation and its mission of “working to improve the homes and lives of U.S. veterans.” The two joined a large group of volunteers to enhance the curb appeal of a community of 48 tiny homes for veterans. The volunteers painted all the homes, planted a fruit orchard and a rose garden, assembled patio furniture, installed mulch and 6,000-square feet of sod. It was a meaningful way to honor and thank our veterans while partnering with our customer to Carry the World. Forward.
#PrideMonth signals a month of celebration and reflection. At Crowley, we believe in fostering a culture of inclusion founded on belonging and its empowering capability for business success. When we feel we belong, we’re more engaged, productive and creative. Thanks to ur business resource group, Stronger Together: LGBTQ+ Alliance, that creates awareness and development opportunities for our people!
On Memorial Day, Crowley employees honored our nation’s fallen heroes at the City of Jacksonville’s Memorial Day Observance at the Veterans Memorial Wall. Our vice president and chief counsel, Art Mead, joined U.S. merchant marine veteran Charlie Sellers to lay a wreath in remembrance of all mariners who have died protecting our nation. In addition, our employees volunteer during the event – distributing water, fans and programs to guests. As a sponsor of the event - and the largest employer of U.S. mariners - we are thankful for the opportunity remember and pay respects to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice as well as honor our active duty and veteran service members.
Our people continue to make a difference in their community. Recently, our technology team in El Salvador volunteered at Mi Casa Kids, an organization dedicated to nurturing abandoned and abused children by providing safe homes and quality education. With the help from Crowley Cares, our employee-driven volunteerism and giving program, our team was able to provide a grocery donation and play games and other various activities with children, spreading kindness and making smiles brighter.
We celebrate the invaluable contributions of our hashtag#veterans at Crowley. Together with our Veterans Business Resource Group, we provide support programs and tailored resources to help veterans thrive. Hear more on transitioning to civilian life with Crowley from Patrick Tamasitis, Maritza Moore and Captain Christopher Menezes.
Our team of logistics experts made the most of their two days together at the recent DR Logistics Summit, having meaningful conversations with customers and prospects about the ongoing advancement of this crucial location as a hashtag#nearshoring hub. As part of our ambitious itinerary, Brett Bennett, Senior Vice President and General Manager – Logistics, participated on a panel about “Connectivity”, demonstrating our continued support of economic development in this region. Carry the World. Forward.
In honor of National Volunteer Month in April, our employees embraced the spirit of giving back. Over 400 team members across the U.S. mainland, Alaska, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and Central America helped people and gave service to the many communities where we operate. We're proud and thankful for their commitment to service and our values.
