We’re thrilled to share that the American Public Works Association has once again recognized the NYS Route 240 at Fisher Road Intersection Improvements with the Project of the Year Award (Transportation Under $5M) - this time at the New York State level, following its earlier local honor!👏 Partnering with NYSDOT Region 5, our team supported the redesign of two historically crash-prone suburban intersections in West Seneca, NY. The improvements included converting the Fisher and Orchard Park Roads intersection into a modern roundabout to reduce right-angle crashes and improve peak-hour congestion. Additional upgrades include new turn lanes, improved lighting, ADA-compliant pedestrian facilities, and signing, further enhancing safety and reliability for all users. Members of our Highways & Traffic Engineering team, Mike Croce, PE and Brittney Mitchell, EIT, RSP1, joined project partners at the awards dinner to celebrate this achievement! This most recent upgrade boosts coverage and capacity across the entire 121-acre amusement park. Our team delivered civil, structural, and electrical engineering services to strengthen wireless performance throughout this high-density venue. From headend equipment rooms and rooftop installations to lighting and utility pole-mounted systems, the enhanced infrastructure supports higher reliability, greater capacity, and a seamless experience for both park operations and guests. What if redevelopment didn't start with a predetermined solution, but with a question? At Northshore Square, a once thriving mall in Slidell, Louisiana, teams from Colliers Strategy & Consulting, Colliers Louisiana Brokerage, and Colliers Engineering & Design conducted a comprehensive Options Evaluation study grounded in real community input, market realities and feasibility testing to determine optimal redevelopment options. Through extensive market soundings, stakeholder interviews and public outreach, we worked to understand what this site could be socially, economically and strategically. The result wasn't a single solution, but four viable redevelopment paths, each evaluated against clear criteria like community benefit, employment quality, tax base contribution, resilience, and site compatibility. This planning goes beyond concepts, it's about creating actionable strategies communities can actually use.
