In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, our Baxter EnAbles Business Resource Group proudly welcomed Haben Girma, a human rights attorney advancing disability justice, to share her journey and educate Baxter employees and what we all can do to be inclusive. “I’m Deafblind and my biggest barrier is not my disability. The biggest barrier is ableism: the widespread assumption that disabled people are inferior to nondisabled people,” she says. “Workplaces need to design for accessibility at every level to create a stronger workforce.
