Meet Stef Pirela, Executive Assistant, Orlando (Remote) At 19, I arrived in the U.S. from Venezuela with just $10 in my pocket and a heart full of hope. Leaving behind my home, college, and family wasn't easy, but political unrest and food shortages gave me no choice. With encouragement from my sisters, whom had made the journey before me, I stepped into the unknown. Navigating life in the U.S. was touch, especially with the cost of international tuition, but I found more accessible classes and threw myself into learning new languages. Portuguese became my favorite, fueled by my dream of traveling to Brazil. I landed my first job in the travel industry. But by 25, I knew I wanted and needed more. When I found Bain & Company on Glassdoor as The Best Place to Work, I took a deep breath and applied. Getting that call back changed everything. At Bain, I found what I'd been searching for: respect, opportunity, and a community that sees and celebrates me. I've grown through the Familia affinity group, helping build belonging for our Latino community. I also received a promotion to Executive Assistant very quickly! After 9 long years of perseverance, I finally received my green card - and immediately booked a trip to Brazil. The trip was more than a dream fulfilled; it was a celebration of everything I'd overcome. Every journey reminds me that resilience, courage, and empathy will take you farther than you ever imagined.
