An outstanding lesson in disappointment

Ventajas

They offer remote work opportunities, and the compensation is competitive

Desventajas

Joining Voodoo is probably one of the professional decisions I regret the most. Like many people, I was attracted by the company's image, ambitious vision, and constant talk about talent, ownership, culture, and values. The reality I experienced was completely different. The culture and values that are promoted so heavily simply did not exist in my day-to-day experience. What mattered was performance, metrics, and short-term results. Everything else felt secondary. The work environment often felt driven by short-term results rather than collaboration, trust, or long-term team development. Processes were inconsistent, priorities changed frequently, and it was difficult to feel that employee well-being was genuinely valued. The atmosphere often felt driven by fear and guilt rather than trust. There was constant pressure to deliver more, and working late, putting in extra hours, or even working weekends gradually became normalized. Instead of feeling motivated, many people seemed afraid of falling behind or disappointing leadership. I also found the overall work ethic and leadership approach frustrating. Decisions often felt reactive rather than strategic, and people were expected to adapt to constantly changing priorities without adequate support or direction. Based on my personal experience, this is not a company I would recommend. There are many other studios that offer healthier cultures, stronger leadership, and a more positive environment for professional growth. I wish someone had told me what working there was actually like before I accepted the offer. It would have saved me a great deal of time, energy, and disappointment.

Salary is competitive, but it doesn’t pay all the following feedback incoming

Desventajas

Voodoo looks great from the outside and they shifted their public image last year to become more attractive to powerful talent and attract them, however the reality in the gaming teams is rough. There’s constant pressure for results, lots of micromanagement, and an unspoken expectation to work nights, weekends, and even during vacations. Work–life balance isn’t really respected. The “unlimited vacation” policy is mostly for show — taking time off outside team-approved windows is frowned upon. You only can take them if it fits to your team, and as there are constantly pressure it’s quite unlikely you can use this perk. There are managers that even makes feel you bad for taking vacations for your regular days off you have per law. Communication is often tense, feedback can be harsh, and remote workers end up feeling isolated. Deadlines are extremely tight, priorities change all the time, and teams get publicly called out when metrics drop. Job stability is low. Projects can be killed overnight, teams dissolved, and “soft layoffs” happen with only a few days to find another internal role. Since the BeReal acquisition, pressure has increased even more. Recently, management approved pushing crunch across all teams. Overall, behind the serious and triumph-base image, there’s a culture of stress, fear-based management, and high turnover. I hope this helps others know what they’re walking into, because I had to run away from this place If you have some selfsteem for yourself or want to keep it, don’t come here at any costs

Good Salary and good benefits also

Desventajas

Technically speaking, in Unity the project was an absolute mess. Even the other UI/UX Designers with long time working in the project didn't know about 'how to do things' and how things were implemented. Non Existing guidelines for working for a newcomer. Onboarding process was terrible too and was almost imposible to follow up. There didn't have a usual way of managing workload and worflow but annoying daily meetings with the rest of the teams that didn't solve the overal misscommunication issue, no team leads or team managers for funneling and helping managing tasks for Artists/Designers. They were aware of this, they just simply believe that it was a good way of working for a growing team in the long term. I honestly dissagree. Good pay not always compensate such a disappointing experience.
