Ventajas

I've been at LabKey for just over 10 years now, starting shortly after it became its own standalone company. It's a great set of co-workers, all passionate about supporting our customers who actually make a difference in the world. We're still small enough so that you can get visibility throughout the organization, but big enough to be making a significant impact. There's a lot of flexibility and respect for things that happen outside of work too. Recently, some significant (for the better) changes are starting to pay off.

Desventajas

Tracking one's time isn't especially fun. Working through some growing pains in terms of clearly dividing responsibilities and shaping individual roles.

Ventajas

1. Many coworkers, especially the majority of female tech employees at LabKey, are extremely hard working, talented and inspiring; 2. Flexible work schedule for software engineers are beneficial for work-life balance; 3. Work can be meaningful and fulfilling

Desventajas

1. Some senior managers don’t have good people and project managing skills. 2. Consequently, certain senior managers, including a few C-suite executives, impose inconsistent culture and standards on their employees, based on the employee’s personal relationship with the CEO or other senior-level executives. 3. LabKey is a small company, yet a few C-suite executives try to enforce a multi-level hierarchy that obstructs the free flow of information and transparent communication in order to secure power for themselves. 4. It is not the best place to be a woman in management. They will be condescended to, and their male supervisors will often take credit for their work.
