Me postulé a través de una agencia de empleos. Acudí a una entrevista en udaan.com en feb 2020
Entrevista
Extremely disappointing interview experience with Udaan.
Interview Process:
1st round was machine coding round in which you had to design a cab booking system. It was mentioned that you could choose any tech stack you prefer and database is optional.
I went ahead with Spring Boot and SQL Database at the backend and was able to write demonstrable and modular code with proper Data Access Layer/Controller/Service/Model layers and separation of concern in 90 mins covering all the functionality that was requested.
The interviewer seemed very cocky and had bad listening skills, he wasn't paying attention when I was explaining him my approach. He was immediately disappointed when I told him I had used Spring Boot and SQL DB. He lectured me that you should have done it in plain Java in memory. He was taking calls in between my explanation and at one point he even laughed at how I solved a particular functional use-case. I was already getting very negative vibes from the place and after this I had lost interest in working with such arrogant and unprofessional people.
There was some confusion with the HRs because one of them asked me to wait for the second round and meanwhile someone else came and said your feedback was negative.
I was really surprised when he said that my code was not modular and did not have separation of concern. I don't know what their expectation was but it was impossible to make my code more modular than what I had done. At this point I'm wondering if they have my feedback mixed up with someone else because the only other possibility is the interviewer was biased and not objective in evaluating my solution which passed all the requirements and followed proper established application design standards.
That design would have been accepted in any other organization but not for Udaan guys who are flying in their own world.
