When the objective of the interview is well-known in advance, it is usually a good practice to allow the individual concerned ample time to prepare for the talk before the actual involvement. By indicating, ahead of time and in writing, the points to be covered, the interviewer gives the interviewee an added advantage and reinforces the specific purpose of the session. Too often the expectations of the interviewee may be far different from those of the interviewer. This misunderstanding, if not corrected, can be disastrous.

Emailed for a group interview for a keyholding position. The Store Manager explained that you must have a completely open Saturday/Sunday availability, but she listed in her signature that she never works Sundays. No thanks. If you can't do it, then don't ask others to!

It was a long, three-part process for the position of keyholder. They ended up offering me a SA position with an insultingly low pay barely above minimum wage on a contract role no less. It was a good experience but it was clear I was being treated as expendable.
