I applied via their very own software. A few days after that I received (an automated) email that my qualifications didn't match the requirements for the position. A few days later I got a direct call from an internal recruiter. We talked, it was a pleasant experience, but I decided not to pursue the job further. A few day after that I got another (automated) email saying the position had been filled. Weird.
But I decided not to pursue the opportunity because of the ridiculously low pay.
Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 2 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en iCIMS (Holmdel, NJ) en jun 2018
Entrevista
My interview process started with a phone screen. However, this was not the typical phone screen. The interviewer didn’t simply cover the basic questions, why are you interested, when can you start, what are your salary requirements, etc. She went much further, asking pointed questions demonstrating she possessed a deep understanding of the type of candidate that would best fit the role. She understood the technical details of the position and was fully capable of explaining its functions and responsibilities. She thoroughly answered every question I had about the company and demonstrated knowledge about the platforms and technologies the position would require.
The next phase was the “meet and greet”. The relaxed format of getting coffee and bagels to discuss the position with the hiring manager reduced the typical stress of the interview process. This put me in a calm frame of mind allowing me to articulate my thoughts clearly and be myself. This also helped me develop a good grasp of the work culture at iCIMS. This phase was treated like I was already an employee simply discussing ideas with a colleague.
The final phase was a classic interview, meeting several people I would be working with closely. With each person, it became clear everyone understood the type of individual needed for the position. They all took the same approach. Instead of peppering me with questions, each person engaged in a conversation about the company, my experiences, the needs of the position and allowing me to explain why I best filled the role. This deepened my understanding of the company culture. Further, it became very evident that senior leadership has a clear vision for the company and it is expertly disseminated throughout the company. There were several times interviewers echoed the words of the previous interviewer.
The entire process not only allowed iCIMS to evaluate me but it also gave me a perfect understanding of the job, the iCIMS philosophy and the company mission. I knew exactly what I was gladly accepting when the offer was made.
