A normal enough process, starting with a HR screening call which went well (1st interview). However, the overall process lacked clarity and structure. The recruiter was relatively helpful but consistently provided incomplete and even incorrect details about the different stages. I also had to chase for updates regularly. The 2nd interview went well enough, with some tough questions designed to put candidates on the spot. This approach seemed appropriate given the role, though it wouldn't be my preferred interviewing style. The 3rd step involved a take-home task that was poorly scoped with unclear success criteria. This is a common complaint with take-home tasks, but this one particularly lacked clarity about expected outcomes, requiring significantly more time than reasonable for an unpaid assessment. I basically had to complete two different tasks to cover the ambiguous requirements. The 4th and final interview was conducted in a confrontational style with constant interruptions and abstract questions. The session was poorly managed. Ironically the shortest interview despite being the main decision-making stage. The senior manager in the interview appeared to be looking for very specific answers that were never clearly communicated. Mind you that I already went through a heavy set of questions about the subject in my previous stages. The session ended abruptly with no opportunity for me to ask questions, which came across as unprofessional. The subsequent feedback I got was vague, unhelpful, and unfair in my opinion. My personal experience suggests a lack of process and confrontational interview culture that likely reflects the broader workplace environment.

I went through to the last rounds of interview for a senior product designer role which was the presentation of the take home design challenge. I had 50mins to present whilst the 2 interviewers had 10mins for questions. Interviewer A was amazing and asked me questions as I go on but interviewer B was a whole another thing. Interviewer B kept interrupting me the whole time and asked questions after questions each time I spoke. I didn’t mind it as it was the whole point of the interview. However, one particular action by them was a big red flag - As soon as I moved on to the next presentation slide, they asked me a question directly related to that particular slide without me having the time to explain that slide. As soon as I click on the next slide the question started related to that and the question was phrased in such a way: “Item A that you mentioned how would you implement that? ” The funny thing was that I didn’t even had a chance to mention Item A as less than 1 sec after the slide changed they asked the question. I had to kindly said that I haven’t mentioned that yet and I’m going to talk about it next on this slide. This whole experience really showed me 2 things; that interviewer was there just to ask questions without really being interested in what I had to say and that they were not even bother to put you at ease during this stressful session. I didn’t get the offer and I was really relieved to be honest as interviewer B was going to be my direct supervisor and I didn’t want to work with a person that put you under unnecessary stress without letting you have a say.
