The process was long, and the communication from the Zoom team was not clear or consistent. After 6 interviews, professional courtesy would have been for at least the recruiter to reach out verbally with some feedback on why they went in a different direction.

5 interviews over the course of 2.5 months including a take home project and presentation in front of entire team (about 10-15 people). The take home project had a larger scope than any take home project I’ve seen or done. They required a 30-minute presentation that included a storyboard, a script to the storyboard, a slide about yourself, then separately a fully clickable prototype with a separate script presented similar to their keynote speeches - all to be accomplished from scratch in less than 4 hours….it also had to use elements from their existing video products and it had to be polished. No placeholder or concepts. They provided no assets or direction other than to look at their website and look at their keynote speeches. If you have assets already, a template, baseline screens, a comprehensible style guide, specific features they were looking for, or an artist at your disposal…that project isn’t so bad. But they’re out of their mind thinking someone can complete all of that in under 4 hours. In the end, I felt confident in what I built. But it seemed they were looking for another specific feature in their hypothetical project that I didn’t use. I received a generic “no-reply” email. I followed up with the recruiter and the hiring manager twice, never heard from them. Worst interview experience I’ve had to-date. Pretentious would be putting it lightly.
