This was one of the poorest interview experiences I have had with a company in more than 20 years in the workforce. It was jarring, actually.
I was contacted telephonically by a recruiter about this opportunity. Apparently, her only job is to schedule an interview with the hiring manager, not provide insight into the job or about the company. The experience was transactional, nothing more. Not a positive impression.
The telephonic interview almost never happened. After having waited 20 minutes for the call, I called the recruiter for a status update. She didn't have any information but stated she would call my interviewer to determine what was happening. Ten minutes later, I received a call from the interviewer who stated she called at the interview time. Based on how disorganized and off-guard she sounded, it's likely she forgot about the appointment.
The actual interview consisted of her talking 80 percent of the time and asking a few questions, most of which centered on proficiency level with Excel. There was no rhythm or process to any of it. She clearly wasn't prepared.
Within 10 minutes of hanging up, I had sent a decline e-mail to them. Definite pass.
