I was called by their internal recruitment consultant about my application, they were polite and asked if I could do a last minute phone interview with the hiring manager the following day. I agreed and the next day I spoke to the hiring manager about the role. They asked the typical interview questions over the phone and I found out more about the role. Everything went well until they asked about expected salary, and when I told them the tone in their voice afterwards was enough for me to know a face-to-face interview was not going to happen. Despite that, the call was very friendly and polite, and the hiring manager was very optimistic about the future. 2 weeks later, I received an enail from them saying they were going other applicants, and I wasn't really surprised.
