After acing an online coding challenge I was invited to tech screening interview with a senior software engineer. The interviewer asked basic interview questions about microservices, messaging etc. After verbal questions, there was a code review task as live coding session. The interviewer was a fresh-looking "senior" guy I suppose. He definitely was less senior than me. He asked questions in not a very clear way. I couldn't get any specific points or rationale. Besides, he showed a little guidance and kept still mostly in response to my answers. I supposed no very specific and deep answers were expected and kept explaining about questions in general way. I thought I had done ok. However, after that interview I got the feedback that I was not enough for C7-level, but C6-level senior position. I got bitter and refused to proceed because how come that kid evaluated me as a not-so-senior with those vague questions and sly communication.
