Screening call, interview with assessment (basic general ledger accounting), homework assignment researching accounting codifications and analyzing grant award, another interview reviewing the assignments and discussing the role, and a final interview with a regional manager. Prior to the final interview the employer contracts with a firm to conduct an extensive background check. References are called, employment is verified, etc. After all of these interviews, each stretching out to around two hours, after having a background check conducted (and there is absolutely nothing shady there), I was declined the role. Now, that in itself is fine; no one is entitled to a position, but having given so much time and access to one’s personal life, I do feel that we are due a little more than a template rejection email. One would like to understand just what it was about that final interview that caused a rejection. Overall, my experience confirmed what I read from others - the individual interviewers seem nice. The company as a whole is extremely inconsiderate.

I had an online interview with this company a few years ago. I remember the process of interviewing was weird and felt very uncomfortable and suspicious. Glad I didn’t get an offer. I am now very happy with my current situation as an accounting consultant.
