I applied online, and received an email from the HR recruiter later that afternoon requesting time for a phone interview. During the initial 30 min phone interview with the HR recruiter, we talked about my background and how they related to the job, as well as salary expectations. The recruiter was incredibly knowledgeable about what the hiring manager was looking for, and we had a great conversation. My salary expectations were higher than what they were looking to pay for the role, but she said she would reach out to the hiring manager and get back to me. I was pleasantly surprised to hear back from her later that week as a follow-up on our conversation. While I didn't move forward in the interview process, the way she handled the situation left me with a really good impression of Yelp, their hiring process and employees.
