I didn’t get an interview. The job posting was online for maybe one to two weeks at most. According to the job they wanted someone who knew everything about the city. The Instagram account was active which I found odd, but thought maybe somebody was managing it until they hired someone. I got a rejection email, and hours later I was sent a new Yelp Elite event to attend. I immediately knew they hired from within, because there is no way somebody could plan an event within a couple days of being hired. I did a little digging and of course the new community manager transferred from a different city. So much for hiring someone who knew all about the current city! Why bother even posting the job listing online when you have clearly hired from within? It’s bad business and it’s wasting applicants’ time. This really left a negative taste in my mouth about Yelp, and whether it’s in your company policy or not to list a job posting, maybe you should post a disclaimer that you already have somebody from within that will most likely be taking the position.

I thought the interview process was short, but quite efficient. The hiring managers were quick and communicative, and I received notification about the status of my applications quickly. I will say that it felt a bit impersonal given it was a phone call, and would have preferred a virtual interview, but it was ok.

Very simple 30 min remote interview. Asked decent questions but the job itself didn't seem appealing. They started with salary and asked me to confirm if I would like to move forward with the interview based on the salary.

The Yelp Community Manager interview process consisted of 1 phone conversation with the hiring manager, a zoom with the hiring manager, extensive writing test and final zoom interview with another team member. All of the interviews were about 30 minutes or less, and I found them really casual and easier than at many other large corporate organizations I've interviewed with. I found that I didn't learn very many details about the role until the final interview, it was very candidate focused.
