      Entrevista

I have had hugely positive experiences with WWT through high school and my community, till I had to go through the hell that was HR. Here is the quick overview: - HR lost my application, gave me false info, NEVER emailed on time and required bugging, pushy - The actual developers at WWT seem awesome! - I was offered $16 hr and was not allowed to negotiate. My friend who interned last summer (same department, same building, same qualifications) was offered $18 out of the gate - HR was totally not communicative about COVID-19 and left me in the dust without any income or any time to find another job. My friend who interned at WWT in IT the summer before got me a recommendation from his amazing manager, who I was excited to meet and work with. Unfortunately for me, WWT HR had lost my recommendation and my application. My friend's past manager had to argue with HR to find my application, and by the time I got a callback, the majority of intern positions were filled. HR interviewed me and asked me about my interests in a few open positions that were "the only ones remaining" none of which had anything to do with my interests and strengths. I asked to be emailed for more info about the positions and waited a week in limbo, having to bug HR. Once my recruiter emailed me the positions (over a week later) she said I had till the end of the day to respond. My friend's previous manager bothered HR, AGAIN, and low and behold, there were positions in IT for an intern! Both teams in IT I interviewed with were AMAZING! Absolutely amazing people! Both teams liked me and offered me a position. Then the offer from HR came in. $16hr, when I was expecting $18 just like my friend who the prior year had been offered. He had identical qualifications, grade level, and experience received right out of the gate. The team he worked with literally sat next to the team I was going to be hired onto. I negotiated with HR, and they declined, saying $16/hr was the rate for sophomores, which was obviously a lie. I begrudgingly took the offer, as HR told me I had to tell them yes or no within 2 days, which I found unprofessional, as I was still waiting on responses from other companies. Finally, COVID-19 killed it all, after the company failed to send me updates on the state of the internship, and they decided no new interns could work that summer remotely. I hope maybe next summer I get to work on the team I was assigned to, they were so great. Hopefully, HR gets it together by then.

We want to first thank you for showing interest in World Wide Technology this Summer along with your candid feedback. While it was not an easy decision, the growing risk of COVID-19 changed our program and process drastically. The uncertainty of the global pandemic created a lapse in communication and for that, we apologize and will continue to improve in the future. Our Leadership and Intern Team strive to provide the best experience for our students while arranging meaningful work that makes a difference within WWT, all of which we felt could not be done properly amid this pandemic. Because of this change, we made a commitment that any selected interns for this summer will have top priority and consideration for Summer 2021 should they still qualify and any student set to graduate in Fall 2020 or Spring/Summer 2021 will have direct access to recruiters to explore entry-level roles within WWT. In regards to your pay rate concern, for Summer 2020 we adopted a formal pay scale based on student's year in school and area of study to ensure fairness across the board. While this scale is new, we apologize for any miscommunication and will work diligently in the future to be sure it is explained thoroughly. Should you have any more concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Intern Team as they take pride in cultivating relationships with students and would be happy to hear first-hand on how to improve the recruiting process for all.
