I was solicited by an internal recruiter, had a phone screen and then was sent a generic email about not being considered further to move forward. That is fine, something everyone goes through. However, when I was sent a generic email stating I was not chosen, and I promptly emailed the internal recruiter as to what about my skill set made their decision. After all, her job is to scout for candidates who have skill sets to perform the role so I should be fairly confident that I’m a good candidate, correct? She sent me another generic email which I asked simply can she please tell me what skill I am lacking so I can learn from it and move on. She sent me a note saying it’s “against their policy” to tell me why I wasn’t chosen, probably the most insulting to my intelligence answer they could give. She basically wasted my time with her poor judgement of what skills that management was looking for, and didn’t have the professionalism to let me know the reason. Just watch out if you’re looking for a serious place to consider.
