Me postulé a través de una agencia de empleos. El proceso tomó 3 días. Acudí a una entrevista en Walmart Global Tech (Nueva Delhi) en abr 2020

      Entrevista

Recruiter called me and asked about only the relevant experience for the position. They scheduled 3 rounds of interview. Coding, Android, system design. First round was easy. Panel asked me to develop the app with skeleton code and some questions on the code that I wrote. All good. Second round started with projects explanation. Panel wants me to answer as fast as I can as he has it 45 mins. He started asking me very vague questions like explain Service and I when I explained what is it and types, etc. He stops me and say I wanted to hear about binder service not others. He asked me I wanted to know some of the specific manifest flag name, specific API name in handler class which very wierd. He started humiliating me u don't know that this etc. Basically for all the questions he wanted to hear certain word(text book mindset) as the answer. If I don't tell that, as per him I don't that thing. Almost every question we had disagreement. Finally, he asked me standard widely used architectural patterns. I started explaining design principles like separation of concerns, testable code and scalable code. He stops me and say I want to hear to MVC, MVP etc...in my understanding these are design patterns that only focus on UI module but not entire Android app. He again humiliated me saying how did they short listed u r resume u don't even know all these....so kiddish and I felt this person does not know how to evaluate a person. So wierd it is. In my 15 years of exp I have never seen such interview. Even I have taken hundreds of interviews. Walmart please train him how to evaluate candidates. He thinks what he knows is the right answer and he don't have patience to listen to the candidate. Third round is on system design which is really sensible. We had good quality conversation about the design problem and I could provide my inputs on mobile app as well as backend. Overall I felt it is very negative experience as the interview process is substandard.

Some basic hacker rank, followed by behavioral interviews, system design - they basically just want you to demonstrate your knowledge. A "Distinguished Engineer" interviewed me and she wasn't prepared at all - complained about a missing hacker rank link and it turned into a "guess what I am getting at" interview - which is the most kind of infuriating interview. It's not how you interact with people at work. They did give me an offer for a lower position (which was nice of them overall) but I declined because I am just beyond that level and their interview process failed me. I hope they no longer use this disorganized engineer to interview people. Great people overall though.
