The interview process was very smooth and well coordinated by the WalletHub hiring team. The interview included 3 tests at different stages and 2 rounds of interview. The tests were designed to evaluate data science knowledge and programming skills. Enough time was provided to complete the tests. The interviews were taken via Skype and was mainly technical. The questions from interview and test were challenging and I think the difficulty level was above average. The entire interview process took a bit longer than expected, approximately 4 months from the initial interaction.

The interview process started with a assignment with obfuscated dataset on which you need to predict the target variable. This assignment took almost a week to complete. I had to do a complete research to guess that the target variable is creditscore and developed a regression model to predict the same. They expect the submission through a docker. I submitted this with in a week. Then there was no response from them for almost a month. Having spent a week of effort, It didn't feel good to see no response from them I contacted them. There was a standard answer that there were lot of applications. After a month's time I got a response that my submission is good and they want to pursue with the next rounds. At this time, I was asked information about what my current salary is and how many hours I could work in a week. I spoke with their chief Data scientist, he seemed to be a nice guy and the call was around my experience and details of my submssion. This went well and after this I was asked to take Mysql test. This test took 2 days for me. I completed and sent this as well. After this there was a quick java coding round. The questions were simple A day later I get a call from the HR and he says that they have decided to pursue with my hiring and they are willing to offer me less than what i was making. I highlighted this to him. There was a strong and rigid response that the pay is non negotiable. I tried negotiating and they were not open for negotiation. It was disappointing to find myself having wasted my time with the interview process. Though I found the evaluation part of interview process to be good, I think the HR and management does a poor job. What company will choose to pursue the interview process with a person when the pay they can afford does not match what he is already making. My advice for people who are applying for this role, make sure they can match your salary before you waste time with the interview process
