The interview process is quite long. Since this was a director level position there was an initail phone interview with a recruiter, onsite interviews with some key personnel in the hiring decision, then onsite interviews at the actual location of the position in southern Illinois for another round of panel interviews. The process was mostly positive, however there were some mis-steps by the recruiting department on scheduling and some other details for travel accomodations to the interview. One frustration was allowing so many candidates to get so far into the process...if you're currently employed you might risk burning some vacation or time off to accomodate interviews for a position you ultimately don't get. There were no trick questions or other quirky questions about how much you researched or studied the company. Overall a positive experience.

Nearly all the questions are taken from an internal interview guide which presents a topic then asks you to recall a specific sitauation and how you handled it. You're left to inject what you want them to know about you through tangents or by answering the question, then talking about other aspects of your skills or qualifications you want them to know.

Disorganized. Hiring manager did not read resume or Google mr e on advance. Outcomes for role were unclear. Long-winded questions that did not match job description. Hiring manager expressed challenges..

Recruiter screen followed by video conference with peer Director. Interview focused on management and work style, along with explaining current environment state. Follow up between conversations was extended due to shifting priorities. Eventual decision was to build more individual contributor roles first, before additional management roles.

First part of the interview was a general screening with human resources. Final round was a panel interview with the hiring manager and the hiring manager's direct report. Both interviews were standard behavioral interview questions.
