During my phone interview, I was surprised at how disengaged all three of my interviewers seemed to be. There were several long gaps between when I applied, was first contacted, and had my interview so maybe they'd lost interest in my resume or really wanted someone they'd already spoken to, but I remember being very thrown off at how much of an afterthought this all seemed to be. On our conference call, one interviewer was driving and two others were at the airport; I'm sure it wasn't planned that way, but I could feel their divided attention. It definitely seeped through in areas that can be crucial in a phone interview like clarity, rapport, and the flow of conversation (with huge silences after I'd finished speaking). This was actually the first interview I've ever had where I was never given a chance to ask them questions. I don't want it to seem like I hold anything against them because all three interviewers seemed very nice, but I always think if they're not treating you that well when you don't work there, they definitely won't when you do.
