Had stated my compensation expectations on the telephonic screening round when it was asked by the HR. After that I had two rounds of interview which I cleared. After that got a call from HR to submit my personal documents. When I received the offer letter, it was much less that the expectation which I had quoted. On having a discussion with the HR, I was told that they need a counter offer to prove what I was asking and then they would be ready to match with my expectations. In the current market scenarios, when a candidate is serious to join an organisation is not being valued. Verizon wants a candidate to ditch an offer in hand and then they would be interested in a candidate. My question is if a candidate can ditch one company, then he can very well ditch your company too and request for a better offer from third company. Please value candidates who wants to join your organisation and be transparent in terms of compensation. Please don’t keep changing your words.
