A couple of weeks after I applied for the position online, I received an email to set up for a phone interview with an HR rep. The interview was slated for 9:45am. By 10am I had not heard from the recruiter, so I sent an email to confirm we were still going to speak. She apologized for her delay and called a short while later. It was a typical phone interview "tell me about a time..." the STAR setup (look it up if you're unfamiliar). She seemed to like everything I responded with, laughed a few times and overall seemed impressed. She then set me up for a second phone interview with another HR rep that same day, later in the afternoon. This was pretty much the same situation, retelling some stories in the STAR format, "What would you do if..."
Within about 2-3 days, I had a face-to-face interview scheduled with a store manager in my area. I arrived about 10-15 minutes early and did not end up meeting with the manager until about 20 minutes after our scheduled time, he was dealing with an issue of some sort. In our conversation, he explained he was relatively new to the company (Verizon as a whole) and was with another retailer prior. He had the typical packet once again "Tell me about a time when..." which are usually "Tell me about a time when a colleague did something questionable and how you handled it" or "How did you handle a time when a customer became very angry." I thought back to a few specific instances and he seemed impressed with my answers, even answering questions he was about to ask so that sped up the process. Our interview took place about 2 weeks before Christmas. At the end of our interview, he said he would be putting interviews on hold until after the Holiday's. Now, the HR rep explained they wanted to hire someone to be in the training class for January 6th.
Here comes the interesting part. I had already expected not to hear anything for a few weeks, however the 2nd recruiter called and said the store manager really liked me and what I had to say and wanted to have me in for a second interview to meet with his Assistant Managers after Christmas. She asked my availability, told her open, so the day or 2 after Christmas would be fine.
The day after Christmas, I did not receive a call. She emailed me to explain that she didn't forget about me and was trying to get a hold of the store manager and that I would hear back later THAT afternoon.
Since then, no communication. I have emailed and called MULTIPLE times, both the recruiter and even store manager. I received nothing back. Very unprofessional for a company to just leave someone (especially unemployed) in limbo.
