The interview consisted of an initial screen with two senior members of the team, followed by an extensive take-home data analysis and writing project. For the initial interview, the senior person on the call never showed up, and the recruiter responded an hour after the interview was supposed to end to ask me if he ever did. The second interviewer was kind and polite however. They give you about 5 days for the extensive take-home project, which requires gathering a publicly available dataset of your choice and writing a 700 word article on it complete with charts and maps. In addition they wanted a presentation to go along with it. After submitting that, I had another round of interviews where they asked about my background in editorial processes. During this interview they praised quality of my take-home test and highlighted the fact that the visuals that I provided were much clearer than those they had on their website. Unfortunately I was not selected for the role, which is a pity given the hours that I spent on the take-home assignment. Fortunately I was able to repurpose much of it so it wasn't an entire waste. My overall impression of Verisk is that of a highly disorganized operation that is out of touch with the modern workforce.
