The way they conduct prospective employee interviews is awful. You get an email saying to come in for a tour of the facility and to sit in with a therapist during a session to see what their therapy is like, and what the recommended attire is (comfortable clothing and no loose jewelry). However, what they tell you and what they do are different. I’m not sure if they purposely mislead people or there’s just terrible communication and disorganization within this company, but when I got there I did not get what I expected. I arrived as instructed (comfortable clothing and no jewelry) yet immediately I could tell I was given the wrong dress code. All of the employees were wearing more professional clothes, and most of them were also wearing loose and dangling jewelry. The person that gave me a tour of the facility I could tell was judging me for my clothing, but I was told to wear that. How is it fair to be judged when I was following instructions? But that’s not even the worst part, the surprise interview is (yes, I said surprise). No where in the email does it say the word interview, so I was not expecting an interview that day and only expecting a tour and sit in session. I’ve worked several jobs before and they have always been very clear with what to expect in terms of when I’m getting interviewed, so I was right to believe there would be no interview that day. During the therapy session, the therapist randomly asked me typical interview questions which normally wouldn’t be bad but because they were unexpected, I became extremely nervous and messed up on some of the answers. I just think it’s quite unprofessional and rude to not tell someone when they are going to be interviewed, and to instead spring a surprise and unexpected interview on them. Also, why wasn’t a member of HR or management conducting the interview? It seems wrong to have a regular employee conduct the interview, especially during a therapy session. Their focus should have been on helping the child, not on giving me an interview.... honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if this employee sabotaged my chances at getting the job. They seemed uninterested and in a bad mood despite my best efforts to be kind and friendly towards them. I expected highly of this company but they really don’t know how to conduct an interview... Perhaps it’s a good thing I didn’t receive an offer. Can’t imagine working there is good if this is what an interview is like.
