This was quite possibly one of the worst interview experiences I have ever had, and I hope someone from Veeva reads this. I spent hours preparing for the initial screening interview because this position seemed like a perfect fit for me, and I was genuinely excited about the opportunity. I researched the position and interview experiences, the recruiter, and made a list of thoughtful questions.
The first issue arose when my recruiter showed up five minutes late to the interview. Upon joining the Zoom call, she apologized and mentioned she was waiting for a delivery. I thought this was acceptable since it's better to wait and be five minutes late than to interrupt the interview halfway through, right? Well, halfway through my "introduce yourself," she asked me to pause so she could get her package at the front door. Despite this disruption ruining the flow of my answer, I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. She was interviewing from her home, so I suspected it might have been an UberEats delivery, as it seemed unlikely that any other "package" would be so urgent.
This wasn't even the worst part. Throughout the interview, it was clear that she was not only uninterested in talking to me, but she also had no intention of moving me forward in the process and just wanted to check off a quota. She didn't smile, responded to my answers with "great, next question," and although it was supposed to be a 30-minute interview, she said she had very little time for questions with 10 minutes remaining. Keep in mind, she had already shown up five minutes late, making the interview even shorter. I had detailed responses, but she gave one-word replies.
Additionally, she tried to convince me to stop pursuing the associate consultant position and apply for the business consultant position instead, which wasn't even posted yet. She said it "might get posted in the Fall and is extremely competitive for people like you who have already graduated." I politely declined and tried my best to show my interest in the position I was actually interviewing for. It seemed like a challenge for this recruiter to even pretend to be interested in me or to show any genuine intention during the interview.
Late arrival, interruptions, rushing me off the Zoom call, and clear disinterest—this is my impression of Veeva Systems, thanks to this recruiter. A company I was once excited to work for is now at the top of my list of companies I would never work for.
