The process began with a phone screen, followed by an in-person interview with several team members, the hiring manager, and the VP of IT. I was told to expect “possibly” some SQL questions, but the actual interview turned into a deep dive into SQL and even a full-stack application design walkthrough — which felt much more like a developer assessment than an analytics one. On top of that, there were many “tell me about a time when…” questions covering my past experiences.
While I understand there can be overlap between roles, the expectations set beforehand did not align with the actual interview. That disconnect made preparation difficult and left a poor impression.
What made the experience worse was the lack of follow-through. I was told I’d hear back soon, yet I never received any response, even after following up. This was disappointing given the amount of time and effort invested for an in-person interview.
I hope the company improves transparency and communication so future candidates are treated with more respect.
