I first had to send my resume and then they set up an interview. First interview was a 10 minute demo lesson. Make sure you heavily prepare for that- have props, set up your background to be student friendly, and absolutely study the slides. Based on this, you find out your pay. Next, I had to do training (took over an hour) and two mock lessons. This is where it gets tricky. Other VIPKID teachers are the ones judging your mock lessons and giving feedback. My first mock lesson was great- I got great feedback and the teacher even told me she couldn't believe this was my first mock lesson. The second one was awful. She told me up front that she just started being a mock presenter. She was so negative, even though I followed through on her criticism. I ended up not getting hired, and I think it was based on the last mock lesson's feedback. I have 10 years of teaching experience, including being ESL certified.
