      Entrevista

      I went through a multi-step interview process. The initial screening call went well and was straightforward. The in-person interview, however, was a different experience. It lasted 2 hours and 20 minutes without a break, and my parking validation was only approved for 2 hours. I was originally told the interview would take about an hour. During the session, two different managers rotated in and out. They presented a loan scenario task with 15 minutes to complete it (the document indicated 20 minutes). One manager left in the middle of the allotted time, and the second manager walked in about eight minutes later to begin asking questions. So I had less than 10 minutes to prepare. I performed well on the analysis portion, including the calculations and scenario breakdown. After that, I was asked to role play a client call. I had just learned about their product, had never seen their call structure before, and had only been given 10 minutes of prep time, after which the manager left. A different manager returned in less than 5 minutes and asked me to start immediately. I understand they want to test candidates in high-pressure environments, but since the material was completely new and there was no opportunity to process it, the role play was messy. I was offered a second attempt and agreed, but by that point I was exhausted and still processing the information. One manager acknowledged that this is something they normally train employees on and have scripts for their employees, while the other was visibly unimpressed. They also mentioned that they are testing this new assessment, and that I was only the second candidate to ever do it, which made the experience feel like I was being used as a test subject rather than being evaluated fairly. I was also not allowed to ask clarifying questions during the role play, even though it was my first exposure to their approach. No offer was extended, and honestly I was relieved. If the interview process is this chaotic, rushed, and unpredictable, I can’t imagine what the actual job environment is like. Afterward, I tried the same scenario at home with my husband, who is a Sales Manager at another mortgage lender with over six years of experience. Using the same constraints and no prior product knowledge, he also struggled with the role play. This confirmed for me that the assessment isn’t measuring competence, but rather how quickly someone can guess what the company wants without context.

These are important logistics, and we recognize how disruptions or misalignment can impact the overall experience. If for any reason you receive a parking violation related to the originally allotted two hour validation, please reach out to your original point of contact so we can assist. Regarding the assessment, you are correct that we are actively piloting and refining parts of our interview process. The intent is to evaluate problem solving, adaptability, and communication skills in situations that may involve ambiguity. That said, your feedback highlights areas where we can better balance realism with fairness, particularly around preparation time, interviewer consistency, and opportunities to ask clarifying questions. We agree that candidates should feel evaluated, not experimented on, and this perspective is helpful as we continue to improve. We also understand how a high pressure environment, especially when paired with unfamiliar material, can be mentally demanding.
