The recruiting process is both exhaustive and exhausting. In my first conversation with the recruiter, I was told the process would last about a month, however, it ended up taking about 9 weeks total.
The process consisted of: an initial screening with the recruiter; 2-prompt written assessment; interview with the hiring manager; “culture fit” interview with two colleagues you’d be working with closely; and finally an interview with the Executive Director. Each interview was scheduled for about a hour. The culture fit interview struck me as a bit weird as the questions were sort of personal (in my opinion) and there was no real value add to the overall candidate experience. In another interview, my interviewer seemed stolid (if not disinterested) which was a bit off-putting and a turnoff. However, that’s obviously subjective.
Overall, the team seemed smart, capable and passionate about their work, which was refreshing. However, I rated my experience as neutral because of the drawn out process described above and lack of substantive feedback following the rejection notice, which stated the team enjoyed meeting me and it was solely a competitive process. I reached out for additional feedback and received no response.
