HRs are very unprofessional they don't know how to talk with candidates. They are forced to join before the joining date. They also offer you a joining bonus as well but under the condition, if you leave the company within 1 year then you have to pay back with interest. Very generic question asked by senior management. Ask everything in writing first they will confirm you on call but not share info in writing.
